The port is split into 2 areas, Barranqueras and Puerto Vilelas. Puerto Vilelas being the main industrial area. Adjacent to international Highway Route 11. Port handles bulk grain and gravel, bulk liquids, breakbulk, containers, general, Ro-Ro and timber. Port handled 500,000 tonnes in 2011.
