A sheltered port, handles mostly project and breakbulk cargoes in support of offshore activities. Ras Al-Khaimah also handles cruise vessels and dhows in addition to offering modern warehousing facilities; a passenger terminal was opened in 2018. The port incorporates a freeport area with direct waterfront access. The port serves the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah and the adjacent emirates of Sharjah and Fujairah and also the Sultanate of Oman.
